Igor Paploski earned his veterinary medicine degree in Brazil in 2010, where he developed a strong interest in epidemiology and population health, focusing on understanding and describing health events in animal and human populations rather than on a single disease. This interest guided his graduate training, during which he conducted research on the epidemiology of leptospirosis and arboviruses while also contributing to the veterinary science literature. In 2018, he joined the University of Minnesota as a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the epidemiology of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) in the United States. Since becoming an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Population Medicine in 2025, his research has focused on PRRSV epidemiology, including disease classification, viral evolution, and biosecurity strategies aimed at preventing disease spread in swine populations.
