Dr. Won Hyung Lee earned his DVM from Seoul National University and his PhD from Chungbuk National University. He worked at Sunjin Co., Ltd. as a farm manager for the largest swine group in Korea, where he developed SPF breeding pig operations. He was also a research fellow in Clinical and Population Science at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, specializing in the field of PRRSV and SIV.

Dr. Lee then worked at Designed Genetics Inc. in Canada as a project leader and successfully eradicated PRRSV from breeding stock. Subsequently, he worked as Executive Director and President of Darby Genetics Inc. and Shinki Swine Farm Co., Ltd., the largest swine breeding company in Korea. Since 2005, he has served as the CEO of XP Bio Inc., a swine research farm which he established.

He led the establishment of APVS, organized the first APVS Congress in Seoul, Korea in 2003, and currently serves as an APVS Board Member. He served as the President of the Korean Association of Swine Veterinarians in 2003 and 2004. Dr. Lee has also served as an Invited Professor at the CVM of Seoul National University. He served as the President of IPVS 2012, Korea, remained an IPVS Board Member until 2024, and currently serves as an Advisor to the IPVS Board. He received an award from the Prime Minister of Korea.
